A Shoutout and Some Reasons to Be Cheerful

I thought I’d do a brief post to acknowledge some searchers/researchers I admire.

Today is the 20th anniversary of Tim Gallagher and Bobby Harrison’s Arkansas sighting. To honor that date, I thought I’d share a link to a BBC radio program featuring Bobby. I have great respect for Tim and Bobby and their tenacity and determination. Bobby’s recent video is compelling and deserved a great deal more positive attention than it received. He very carefully and thoroughly eliminated Wood Duck, Hooded Merganser, etc. in the analysis he presented to USFWS. I don’t know the location, but it’s encouraging evidence that birds persist in more than one state.

Dave Martin, former moderator of the ibwo.net forum, has been a mentor. Most searchers are in his debt, and I especially appreciate his pointing Frank Wiley to our study site. His new blog post on forest maturation in Louisiana also offers some reasons to be encouraged.
